Northwest University Master Plan update
The plan has been submitted to the city. As soon as the plans are posted, we will send an updated link to access the content of the plan. Neighbors at the meeting have concerns with the plan, especially around field usage, traffic, noise and lighting. Follow up to the question of taxes and student usage need to be answered. At a high level, the process will be for the City to review before it is reviewed by the HCC.  If you have concerns regarding the plan, we recommend you write to the City Council and HCC as well as speak at the council meetings.

Neighborhood Safety Program
The City’s Neighborhood Safety Program (NSP) is accepting ideas for projects that will improve the safety and livability in neighborhoods throughout the City. Kirkland residents are encouraged to submit their ideas through the Capital Improvement Projects “Suggest-a-Project” database.

Projects submitted through September, will be considered for the 2017 funding cycle. The NSP funds projects under $50,000, but all ideas are welcomed. The City reviews and responds to all suggestions and will notify those submitting projects if they meet the NSP parameters. All suggestions will be shared with the respective Neighborhood Association and posted on the City’s web site.

The 2017 cycle is starting earlier this year by one month, so as to be in better alignment with the bid process and to get better prices and start earlier in the season on the construction phase of the projects.

Community Art Project
The community art project will be unveiled on October 8, 2016 and live on the Corridor at the intersection of 110th Ave NE Ave in the Highlands Neighborhood until mid-November. Find out more at www.kirklandwa.gov/arts   or follow the Cross Kirkland Corridor Facebook page for updates. Other Updates
No Month of Concern for the Hungry food drive this year. Both KAN and City staff volunteer commitments fell through this year. We urge you to make fresh harvest donations or any donations at any time to Hopelink. Or start your own food drive. Maybe CHNA can help.

Don’t throughout books or DVDs. Please drop off at the library. The Friends of the Library will be happy to take them.

If you have not already, please join the CHNA Facebook page so you can get automatic updates.

Or check out the CHNA website.

We hope to see you at the October meeting.
