Minutes to Meeting June 4th, 2008:

It is time to start work on the Houghton 4th of July float. The idea for this year’s float is “Houghton hears a who” – a play off of “Horton hears a who”.  We need help making the float and willing participates to walk in the parade. If you are interested in helping out, please send an email to Cathy Whiteside at cmwhiteside@comcast.net to be informed on the time and location of the next work party.

The June CHNA meeting was run by the Eastside Trail Advocates (ETA). They did a great job of providing background on the corridor, explaining the players, providing an update on what the group has done to date and providing opportunities for folks to get involved. Attached you will find the handout that was pass out at the meeting.  It includes ETA’s messaging and key player’s email addresses. ETA would really like to get more people involved; send an email with your opinion or attend one of the related meetings and voice your opinion. It is an issue that directly impacts Houghton. Please take some time to read their handout, form your own opinion and get involved. If you are interested to find out more about Eastside Trail Advocates go to www.eastsidetrailadvocates.org. The meetings relating to the corridor have been included in the “Key Dates” section with some detail below.

    -The Port of Seattle will be holding 3 "Eastside Rail Corridor Informational Open Houses" in the coming few weeks.  Needless to say, this is the organization that we must get out in front of.  The meeting times and places are as follows - we're working hard to have attendance at all of them.  Please let us know if you can attend.  Also, if you need a ride or would like to carpool, we're happy to help arrange that as well.

* Thursday, June 12, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. - Snohomish High School Cafeteria  1316 Fifth Street, Snohomish

* Wednesday, June 18, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.- Carol Edwards Center - Woodinville Parks and Recreation - 17401 133rd Avenue NE, Woodinville
* Wednesday, June 25, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. - Newport High School Commons - 4333 Factoria Blvd., SE, Bellevue

Additional Note: There have been several burglaries in Houghton recently. Please keep an eye out for suspicious behavior; specifically a mini-van in your neighbor’s driveway that doesn’t look familiar and is “loading up”. Don’t hesitate to call the police even if you don’t think it is an emergency.
