would like to get a couple of the newsletter, let us know.
Year
ahead planning
Fourth of July float planning begins April. Put your
thinking cap on!
Citizen Corps/CERT shed – Plans are in the works to move our
storage shed/Fourth of July float to
Carillon Woods - playground construction should begin mid
March, continue through summer. Ivy Pulls begin in April. Need to move on the
art piece! Lisa is working with the Kirkland Cultural Council to get a request
for bid in for an art piece. We may work with the Historical Society in the
future to put in some signage in the park to inform us about the rich history
of our park.
New Traffic Safety Committee – see below
Officer Elections
All officers were reelected in an uncontested election.
Traffic Committee
The focus is
Get data of speeds, volume, violations/citations for
Is a crosswalk possible between NW College and Fire Station
Reduce speed on 108th to actual posted limits
Regular schedule for speed reader board
Curb extensions (especially at crosswalks) or other possible
speed reduction techniques
Are there other focus issues?
You may
have noticed increase in patrols following City Council in the Neighborhood
Meeting last month. Watch your speeds in school zone.
The committee has noticed lots of violations,
particularly in the school zone. Some of us have personally witnessed
someone making an illegal left turn next to a school bus that had stopped, with
lights flashing, and unloading students. The car almost hit a group of
students crossing in front of the bus in the crosswalk. PLEASE!!! Slow
down and be extra aware of our students.
Lakeview Neighborhood
Paul Robichaux would like to discuss the possibility of
merging CHNA with the Lakeview Neighborhood Association. It is being
considered and I will discuss the ramifications with Lakeview leaders and Kari
Page.
Look forward to seeing you at the next CHNA meeting on
Wednesday, April 4th at 7pm.
