* Fourth of July Parade – Always wanted to be in a parade? Come join us this 4th of July. Always wanted to make a parade float? Come join one of the work parties. Contact Lisa kirby994@verizon.net if you are interested in being a part of the fun! First work party scheduled for this weekend.

* Carillon Woods Playground is almost done. It is expected to be done some time this month. We will send out an update when the playground area is completed. What a great resource to have a natural, fun park in our own backyard!

* Houghtdown is just around the corner and we have begun the preparation for this great community event. Preliminary work needs to begin to secure permits and a band. If you are interested in volunteering to help, let us know.

* Lisa is now part of the new Active Living Task Force (City). She will be attending a meeting on June 28th and would like to bring forth any of the neighborhood’s concerns or ideas (beside the normal perennial pedestrian issues). Any issues please let her know.

* PUBLIC MEETING – Zoning Variances -   A public meeting will be held by the KIRKLAND PLANNING COMMISSION on Thursday June 28, 2007 at 7:00 p.m., (or as soon thereafter as possible) in the Council Chamber at 123-5th Avenue. REQUEST:  Threshold Determination for 10 private amendment requests to determine if the City should further study the requests to amend the Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Code and/or Zoning Map with the annual City update of the Comprehensive Plan rather than with the applicable neighborhood plan update.

* PUBLIC MEETING – Annexation – Phase II will be coming to an end soon. The next decision on annexation is expected to occur in November with a City Council vote. This vote will determine if the project should move forward to Phase III and taken to a public vote. There are two public forums schedule for June and we hope you can get out and get informed. The dates are June 21 and June 26. City of Kirkland website has more details. http://www.ci.kirkland.wa.us/depart/CMO/Annexation_Information.htm

Hope to see you all at the next meeting or the 4th of July parade!
